With eight days to go it is appropriate that the team thank so many people who have contributed to Mates on a Mission in numerous capacities.Your acts of kindness are deeply appreciated and have provided great motivation and inspiration to all involved. Unfortunately, we were unable to secure any corporate sponsorship but we have been overwhelmed by the many kind hearted people who are genuine in their support ensuring and wanting MOAM to be a success.
We hope we don't overlook anyone in our list of thank you's but apologies if that has occured. Firstly, to our Blog designer Kat currently living in London, thanks for making this site possible for all to follow Brad on his epic adventure.
Secondly, our sponsors ASONE Advertising for the design of the awesome web page and constant updates, Hogs Breath restaurants in Kelmscott and Joondalup, AutoMasters for taking care of our vehicles before and after the ride, Mandurah RV Centre, The Butchers Hook for ensuring the team's appetites are taken care of, Omnibus, Perth Party Hire's supply of a marquee and crockery for the Teddy Bear's High Tea, George's Bike Shop in Willetton for their expertise in making sure Brad's bike will last the distance, Hahn Electrical for supplying two satellite phones, Signpoint and Direct Image for their fantastic MOAM signs that have been spotted along cycle tracks and near shopping centres, LJ Hooker Leeming, GDK Electrical for being amazingly supportive and generous employers of Brad, Classic Slate and Tile, Ride Advice and the Rotary Club of Willetton whose contribution was greatly received.
A number of fundraising events have or are about to be held in support of MOAM. A big thank you to the Teddy Bears, a group of beautiful ladies from Mandurah who worked tirelessly to organise a very successful High Tea, local schools West Leeming (home to where the special friendship between Mitch and Brad formed) and Leeming Primary Schools and Leeming Senior High School who are having Free Dress days in the coming weeks with funds going to MOAM, Jasper Miller for allowing his 1st birthday to be a fundraising event, SKG for nominating MOAM as the charity they will support in May and June, and the wonderful support from football clubs in Kalgoorlie and Bull Creek-Leeming. Kalgoorlie Railways Club along with Mines Rovers have invited Brad to toss the coin at the start of their game on May 30th. Our gratitude to Bull Creek-Leeming Football Club is immense! Many memorable games of football were played at the Club and now they are doing everything possible and some, to support MOAM. Bull Creek-Leeming Amateurs are hosting the MOAM finale when Brad crosses the line after cycling 2700 kms! In particular we wish to thank Mike Bardsley (Club President) for his empathy and drive in making the finale so significant.
Brad and the support crew need looking after and we have many people who have assisted us.On our arrival in Adelaide, our needs have kindly been met by Betty O'Connor and Tracy Fox. Pete and Edith, the owners of what we now affectionately call Ken's Castle and dear friends Pauline and Chris Johnson who have lent us their caravan, your generosity is greatly appreciated. Ken's Castle could double as a medic centre thanks to the first aid kit supplied by Trudi and Gary Sandilands. We thank the suppliers of fuel vouchers that guarantee Brad's support vehicles will always be behind him!
Many may not be aware, Bull Creek-Leeming have and has had many players going on to fulfil their dream of playing AFL football. We sincerely thank current players Kyle Hardingham (Essendon), Rhys Palmer (GWS), Jarrad Jansen (Geelong) and Jason Johannisen (Western Bulldogs) for securing autographed jumpers to be included in the MOAM raffle. In addition we acknowledge Ross Glendinning (West Coast Eagles), Aaron Sandilands (Fremantle Dockers) and Zac Read (North Melbourne) for supplying us with jumpers from their respective clubs. MOAM also has a connection with hockey, thanks Trent Mitton for organising two autographed Australian Team shirts.
Finally, to the many, many people who have already generously donated to MOAM....THANK YOU! Your donation is going to make a life changing difference to so many in Seraya. Carolia Charity thank you for coordinating and receipting the numerous number of donations already received.
A close friend Liz, sent a Best Wishes card to Brad this week with a famous and applicable quote from Walt Disney,
'If you can dream it, you can do it!''
Brad has certainly dreamt it and now, along with Mitch's guidance is going to show that he can do it!
Thanks Isabel for your words of encouragement to Brad.
