I challenge for there to be prouder sets of parents in the world
today than Sue, Ken, Shane and I! The boys are finally setting off across the
Nullarbor to make a difference for many Balinese families living in poverty in Seraya. Along with
hundreds of friends and family throughout Australia and overseas (in particular
Kristy in London,) the commendations and best wishes for Brad have been overwhelming.
A typical start to the day…more media for Brad! Channel Nine
did a live cross to Brad just before his departure from Adelaide Oval. A lot has to be said for modern technology, as Kristy was also able to be there to farewell Brad, thanks to FaceTime! Again, Brad was superb in
the interview and I'm sure many people in the West may have been a little
late for work, waiting to see him before he set off.
Media commitments over, Brad pedalled off along Main North
Road on his 2700 km ride home. I'm sure the boys had a laugh together over what had been ticked off whilst in Adelaide. Even more amusing to Mitch would have been that the Crow's WA supporter base had grown! Better still the Crows had beaten the Pies! The first 10kms were a little challenging, riding in the morning Adelaide traffic but Brad soon got out on the open road and had the legs spinning. After virtually breathless conditions in Adelaide for
most of the week, today things were vastly different. Brad rode in to
24km winds for the majority of the day. Great to see the support for him along the way with a
group of bikies giving him the thumbs up and trucks regularly tooting (not to
get out of the way) and waving. Brad's greatest support and interest came from some cows in a paddock who all came to a stop from grazing and turned their heads to salute the efforts of MOAM!
Ken’s Castle and Shane’s Shack followed every pedal of Brads
and as we pull into Snowtown tonight, we all feel relieved at how successful day one has
been and look forward to the next nineteen!
ps apologies again for no photo uploads but the guru is still asleep!
